Move Fast or Move Slowly? November 27 2014

There's this bizarre philosophy of "Move fast, break things" as propagated by the behemoth of social networks.  It's the wrong philosophy to have when you're dealing with things that can adversely affect people in more than a, "Oh, no, I can't see the 67th baby picture you just posted! My life is over!" sort of way.

And breaking things?  Really?  That's a good thing?

Okay, yes, if the idea is "break the stranglehold of monopolies that do not benefit society," then I am all for it.  If it's "break software because you're lazy," no. Just no.

And when you're dealing with software that handles transactions with other people's money?  Yeah, move slowly.

Move slowly, and maintain things.

And don't even get me started on the thought of "Move slow."  Again, no.  Just no.
